Having finished her debut album, “Fourth Corner,” more than a year ago, Trixie Whitley says she’s “really excited to move on to the next record.”

“I’m working on a lot of new stuff,” the daughter of the late singer-songwriter Chris Whitley and member of Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub tells Billboard. “This’ll be the first time I work on a second record, so it’s new for me. I have some more really distinct ideas, but I’ll need to go into a really concentrated writing period to get a real sense of what it’s going to be. I’m planning on taking a few breaks from (touring) to just go somewhere and sit in the south of France for a couple of weeks and take all the writing I’ve done and really collect it and look at it.”

Summer dates are shaping up with some very exciting appearances at some of our favorite festivals in Europe. The European tour starts with our first date at the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands on June 16th. We are also honored to be performing at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival on July 6th as well as returning to Gent Jazz Festival on July 20th. Trixie Whitley’s first high-profile gig was in the heady company of her collaborators in Black Dub.
Super-producer Daniel Lanois (U2, Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan) handpicked Whitley to be the group’s main voice on its entrancing self-titled 2010 release. Whitley, daughter of the late singer-songwriter Chris, is now out touring for her full-length debut album, “Fourth Corner,” which shows off her stunningly soulful vocals and multi-instrumental prowess.
